Dear Sushma ji,
You tweeted day before on 29th March night: “Indian couple Prashant and Smita Basarur were stabbed by an immigrant near Munich. Unfortunately, Prashant has expired. Smita is stable. We are facilitating the travel of Prashant’s brother to Germany. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.”
It is laudable how compassionate you are and so concerned and prompt in ensuring safety of Indian emigrants in far-flung places, in your role as external affairs minister. The safety and well-being folks have settled abroad should concern us.
What about those of us left behind? What about 26-year old Sant Atmabodhanand – who left his computer engineering studies in Kerala – to join the Ganga movement that is working to ensure free-flowing and pollution-free river and protect the crores of indigenous lives and livelihoods that depend on her. He has been fasting for nearly 160 days but as Bharat Jhunjhunwala ji who has been in talks with the Government of India shares in an email response:
“I spoke with Mr Choudhary*. I informed him that the NDA Government appears to have taken a political decision not to take cognizance of ABN** fast. NDA is willing to let ABN die. Then Mr Choudhary said he will be in contact with us in his next visit.
I am trying to contact Nripendra Mishra*** but he has not responded. Suggestions welcome.”
* Referring to the visit of Shri Phoolman Chaudhary – Asia representative at United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues to Matri Sadan at Haridwar on 17th of March along with his Press Secretary Hari Paudel ji and Nepalese Parliamentarian Metmani Met Chaudhary ji. They also met with the Ganga Padayatris who marched from Jantar Mantar at Delhi on 9th March to reach Matri Sadan on 17th March. This was led by Sandeep Pandey ji and Faisal Khan.
**ABN – Sant Atmabodhanand
*** Referring to Principal Secretary to PMO Shri Nripendra Mishra. Bharat ji and Matri Sadan head Swami Shivanand have already met Nripendra ji once but he has not been responding further. You may recollect that former member of Central Pollution Control Board and professor at IIT Kanpur Swamy Gyanswaroop Sanand (earlier Prof. GD Agarwal) after reposing tremendous hope and faith in your administration was allegedly killed after 110 days of fasting. Another Ganga activist Sant Gopal Das has been missing from AIIMS Delhi after he was allegedly discharged on 4th of December last year under highly suspicious circumstances.
Are you Chowkidar for only some Indians and NOT for others?
Sincerely yours,
Chandra Vikash
